A National Jack'n'Jill Tour for Novice to Advanced Level Dancers!

Welcome to the next evolution in J&J contests...the J&J tournament!! Events across the country are getting involved in this exciting new format. Partnering with GlobalDance.tv, these events will be broadcast on the internet featuring the Golden Ticket Tour.

Each event on the tour will serve as a qualifier to get to the finals held at the US Open.

At Tour Events

At each event, a prelims will be run as a luck of the draw contest. The top 16 leaders and followers will advance to a finals round. The finals will be held as a tournament. In the tournament, new partners will be randomly assigned and seeded (ranked).

As the music plays, two couples at a time will dance against each other and will be judged immediately following their dance. One couple advances, one couple is eliminated, starting with 16 couples and ending with one winning couple!

The winners at the qualifier location will receive event passes and travel vouchers for the US Open where they will draw new partners from a list of participating Pros and All-Stars to compete for the top prize money.

You must be advanced or lower at the time of the Qualifier Event. Once you win a qualifier, you can no longer compete in any other qualifiers.

Dancer level will be determined by following the World Swing Dance Council Guidelines. This, however, is not a a World Swing Dance Council Sanctioned J&J.

Golden Ticket Tour Finals

The schedule for the GTT Finals has been set for November 25th, 2010. All-Stars and Pros who wish to participate must pre-register on GlobalDance.tv BEFORE October 1st.

Schedule for Thursday, November 25th

All-Stars and Pros - Prelims - 7:30 PM

To qualify for this contest, the All-Star/Pro must have more than 40 advanced points within the last 5 years, per the World Swing Dance Council Records OR classified as a Champion per most NASDE events. They must pre-register on GlobalDance.tv before October 1st to enter.

Dancers in this round will be scored as individuals. The top leaders and top followers - one for each follower and leader from the qualifying events - will be selected to move onto the Semi Final Round. 

Opening Ceremonies with Event Tour Winners - 8:15 PM

We will introduce all tour qualifiers to represent the event they won at.  Please have your winner’s jackets with you.

We will then have one short dance with all the couples on the floor. A volunteer will collect all the jackets and we will proceed into the semi final round. 

Semi-Final for Tour Qualifiers - 8:30 PM

The finalists from each tour stop will be randomly paired with a semi-finalist from the All-Star/Pro prelims.  Heated semi-finals will be danced to three or four songs where the dancers will be scored as couples.

The top 16 couples -- 8 female amateur couples and 8 male amateurs couples -- will advance to the final tournament bracket.

Final Tournament Bracket - 9:30 PM

The top 16 couples will be re-sorted, each amateur drawing a new All-Star/Pro from the top 16.  This is a luck of the draw scenario, so potentially an Am could have the same partner as the semi-final round.

A score will be given to the couple based on the combined success in the semi-final round.  After the score is calculated, each couple will be seeded into a tournament bracket.

Prize Money
